The Adventures of Wine Cellar Park.

Who doesn't love the park? The fresh scent of nature combined with the--usually--scenic views results in the air being filled with love, happiness, memories, or a special feeling that only you know. The park has a unique way of connecting with each and every one of us.

Wine Cellar Park within the City of Dunbar, West Virginia has not only a fascinating history, but it also contains beautiful landscape scenes and hidden adventures. This park contains a trail that branches off into multiple pathways--one of which leads to Anderson Lake which rests on top of a green, grassy hill. There is an off-the-trail pathway that leads adventurous explorers behind the lake and crosses to the other side. This may seem quite normal for most parks, but what truly makes this park stand out is its hidden treasures. First off, the location of Wine Cellar Park is quite secluded; furthermore, the park seems relatively small when first glanced at it. What an illusion!

Since the park is almost hidden, how would one get there? Good question!

When you are on Fairlawn Avenue--the main street that runs from institute to Dunbar--there will be a relatively small, green sign that says, "Wine Cellar Park." You will turn down that road (Valley Drive), then turn right onto Stewart Avenue. The next turn comes rather quickly, so I wouldn't recommend going too fast if you are new to this area. The next turn will be on the right, and the road is called, "Dutch Hollow Road." At first, you may think you have turned down the wrong road; there will be many houses and sets of apartments. And, the road leading to the park is quite long--probably a 5 minute drive at most. However, keep straight on that road, until you see the park sign. Parking is to the left of the road, and the cellars and trails are to the right.

This park houses many great attractions as well as opportunities to gain wonderful memories. There are shelters to have a picnic, Anderson lake to fish at (trout is stocked yearly), trails to explore, and the wonderful wine cellars to appreciate.
